Another busy week in Gillingham and all the team have been out and about on Patrol attending our Hotspot areas for Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB). 

PCSO Vicky assisted with a fire that broke out after local children were playing with lighters in the field, luckily she put it out with the fire extinguishers we have in the patrol car and it did not spread further. The children and their parents have been spoken with, and we have worked with Dorset Council to give them an ASB warning letter, and to highlight the risks of what they were doing. 

PC Ash and Brad were doing some patrols when they were doing an address check, some cannabis was located so a Community Resolution was given. A community resolution is an out of court resolution that we use to resolve an issue, and help the offender to rehabilitate.

During our shifts this week we have had the pleasure of dropping in on various community events, such as the Car exhibition at the Mellows Care Home, and the event on the Town Meadows where we spoke to various people about their ongoing issues where we can direct our patrols in the future. 

Finally North Dorset NPT came together to deal with a male who had been causing ASB in Shaftesbury. Whilst PC Ash and PCSO Su were out on patrol, they spoke to members of the local shop watch who stated that he was causing issues at Tesco. The male was located, he had no stolen items on him but was given a S35 Dispersal Notice and assisted with leaving the area. A S35 Dispersal Notice is a power we use to disperse someone from an area if they are, or suspected to cause ASB in the area. It’s a super tool we can use to give the town some respite, without the reports from Shop watch we would not have located him so Thank you!
